馬偕安寧 愛人如己
馬偕安寧療護教育示範中心為一個多元專科背景的照顧場域，主治醫師來自腫瘤科、家醫科、甚至是精神科。Hospice原本就是指心靈的驛站，馬偕安寧秉持此初衷，愛人如己，陪病人與家屬一起走人生的最後一哩路。

什麼是安寧療護？
安寧療護是指照顧一群癌症末期或對積極性治療較無明顯反應的病患（一般是指經醫師診斷認為不可治癒，且有醫學上之證據近期內病程進行至死亡已不可避免者），藉由專業的身體評估與症狀處理，合宜的同理心溝通技巧，以期達到身體、心理、靈性三平安的四全照顧。 |
與其他病房有何不同？
安寧療護的專業人員均嚴格的篩選與訓練，在身體評估、心理支持與靈性需求的訓練上都有一定的程度的要求，再加上照顧人力的充裕度及舒適設備（例如: 洗澡機、Hans、PCA pump），讓病人及家屬能得到更多、更好、更貼心的照顧。 |
安樂死與安寧療護有何不同？
安樂死是指藉由外力或藥物使病人終止生命，但安寧照顧卻是要病人安樂地活，在剩餘的日子裏能充分運用與安排，有良好的生活品質才能無遺憾地離開人世。 |

MacKay Hospice and Palliative Care Center
Founded in February 1990, the MacKay Hospice was the first in Taiwan to provide palliative care for terminally-ill patients. Since its establishment, the Hospice staff has been working with a great sense of responsibility.
With full support by its board of directors, the Hospice has been able to send abroad staff members including doctors and nurses to study and observe, hoping what they learn from other similar institutions will better meet local patient's physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
The MacKay Hospice and Palliative Care Center was later built to function as a national and international base. It is hoped that by integrating education, clinical experience, and research, the Hospice can train more palliative care professionals, and that the quality care that they offer will satisfy the needs of both the patients and their family.
